I was tagged on FB to do this...and I saw someone else on Xanga list theirs, so I thought I'd copy mine over here too. :D
Fifteen books you've read that will always stick with you.
First fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes.
1. Night by Elie Wiesel - Every person should read this book at some point in life. Period.
2. The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis - It echoed in my heart as I consider that this life is an echo of heaven if we live surrendered to God. Really, most anything written by CS Lewis works...especially Narnia.
3. Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnnard -I read this book every couple of years and it works good things in my heart everytime.
4. Waiting on God by Andrew Murray - well, anything by Andrew Murray really.
5. Captivating by John & Stasi Eldgridge - This book helped me change my perspective about myself a great deal, especially after some personal emotional injury. it is, in my opinion a must-read for every christian woman who struggles with insecurity....which is every one.
6. The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning - Talk about knowing the love of God....wow.
7. If by Amy Carmichael - a Spiritual "whack on the head with a hammer" - as Anything by Amy. She's one of my spiritual heros.
8. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen - just good on every level, and romance....
9. The Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson - really, the first time I read "I am nobody, who are you?" I knew I'd encountered someone who understood.
10. Doing the Lord's Work the Lord's Way by KP Yohannan - Should be the handbook for every ministry and servant. KP understands that God's work is done by God, and we are just humble tools.
11. The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin - Trying to understand a world without gender really casts the idea of gender and gender rols in a new light.
12. Alex: The Life of a Child by Frank Deford - Read this as a youngster and the story of this young girl with a debilitating and terminal illness really impacted me and made me want to live a life of joy that blessed those around me with sunshine.
13. Hamlet by William Shakespeare - the poetry and sheer beauty of this play still carries me.
14. Philippians by the Apostile Paul - the essence of servitiude, and carries so many verses that remind me of who I am, what I desire most and where I should find satisfaction.
15. The book of Psalms - There isn't a day that goes by that a verse from the Psalms doesn't bring comfort, a word from God, or joy to my heart....I try to read one each day and have poured over a psalm of weeping when i'm weeping, of joy when I'm joyful, of sorrow when I'm sorrowful and found every one an opportunity to Praise God. They are the songs of my heart.
