  A Week of Thankful (Pt. II)

  It is Day 2 of Thankful Week, and this is by far, my favorite Thankful Day each year, and usually is a reader favorite as well. While some of the past years’ Thankful Week posts have passed, this one has to stay. To give you a little background, here’s some background.

  In Exodus 3, God appears to Moses in the form of a burning bush. God calls Moses to serve in an important role in the history of Israel. Moses asks “Whom shall I say sent me?” And God, in His infinite patience offers a name of Himself “I AM WHO AM.” Some translations render this “I Am that I Am” or “I Am” but after a long discussion with a Jewish rabbi of the Hebrew syntax, I’ve learned that the most accurate phrasing is actually closer to “I BE.” – Which is why the translation “I AM WHO AM” is closer than the others. The difficulty of wrapping our brains around text is what makes this text so fascinating to me. It’s a God whose very statement of existence is beyond my ability to expound or understand. What I do know is this, when God states calls Himself “I AM WHO AM” and Jesus Christ uses  the “I Am…” statements throughout the new testament, it is simply the very tip of all that He is.

  So, Today, for ALL that HE IS, I am humbled, awed and most thankful.
